Springfield, Ohio serves as the county seat of Clark County, and it has a total population of nearly 61,000 residents. The community is located in the southwestern portion of the state along the Mad River, and it is found about 25 miles from Dayton and 45 miles west of Columbus. The community was founded in 1801 by James Demint, and early growth was attributed to the presence of the National Road. The climate of Springfield is part of a transitional zone between humid continental and humid subtropical zones. It features cold, dry winters, only receiving about 23 inches of snow each season. Average high temperatures in January tend to reach the mid-30s, but overnight lows will plummet down to about 20 degrees, making it crucial for residents to invest in a home heating system.

During the summer, conditions become hot and muggy, and severe weather with tornadoes is possible. July is the hottest month and features high temperatures of about 84 degrees on average.
