Bellefontaine is a central Ohio city located in Logan County. It is the largest city in Logan County and serves as the county seat. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were approximately 13,172 people living in Bellefontaine in 2016.

Bellefontaine was established in 1820. It was named after the French word that means “beautiful spring.” At one time, several limestone springs existed in the area.
