Marysville is a central Ohio city positioned in Union County. It serves as the county seat of Union County and is the largest city therein. As of 2016, there were almost 25,000 people living in Marysville according to the United States Census Bureau.
Original inhabitants of the area where Marysville is located were Native American Indians. Eventually, European-American settlers arrived. Samuel Cuthbertson plotted the town in 1819. The community was named in honor of his daughter Mary. After Marysville was plotted, the first burial place in the city was set aside. However, the site was relocated in 1893 after the New York Central Railroad procured right-of-way through the village. After its establishment, Marysville began experiencing significant population growth. One reason for this is the city established itself as an attractive location for new businesses and families. Today, the city is an important manufacturing center. Honda of American opened its first plant in 1979. This plant provides many Marysville residents with jobs. The plant also provided the city with economic support which helped Marysville develop into the attractive and thriving community that it is today.
