Serial Number Information

Amana Serial # format
Letters denote year of manufacture using
BLACKHORSE as a code format B= 1971 or 1981 L= 1972 0r 1982 ect.
You will have to use your judgment about the decade or construction.
Amana has since been purchased by Goodman and we are uncertain as to the new format.

Carrier, Bryant, Payne and  Day & Night
Sample # 1104B12345
1st two digits (11) represent the week of the year in this case the 11th week. 2nd two digits (04) represent the build year in this case, 2004,
the balance of the number is only relevant to the elves at the factory.
The older units had a complex series of numbers and digits, contact your dealer regarding these. They may have to contact the factory.

Coleman : Serial numbers prior to April 1992, 1st two numbers are the month, 2nd two are the year. After April 1992, 1st two numbers are the year, 2nd two numbers are the month, then the series number.

Comfortmaker : (ICP) uses the first letter for the month (skipping “I”) and the 1st two digits are the year.

Goodman: The 1st two digits of the serial # are the year and the 2nd two are the month. For Example: 0504056254 would decode as follows:
(05)= year of build (2005) , (04)= month of build (April)

Lennox: In recent times, the first two digits are plant number, the second two digits are the year of manufacture and the letter denotes the month as follows: A= JANUARY, B=FEBRUARY, C=MARCH, D=APRIL, E=MAY, F=JUNE, G=JULY, H=AUGUST, “I”NOT USED, J=SEPTEMBER, K=OCTOBER, L=NOVEMBER, M=DECEMBER . So a serial number like this 5897J00979 would decode like this: (58)97J00979 58= Plant # , 58(97)J00979 97= Build year
5897(J)00979 J= Month of build (September)
Lennox used various schemes earlier, and if the format doesn’t correspond to this one a phone call to Lennox might help.

Rheem & Ruud: In the middle of the serial number the letter
F will appear followed by four digits that represent the month and year of construction as in this example: EB5D307F310216614 this decodes as follows: EB5D307F(31)0216614 week of build  31st ,EB5D307F21(02)16614 Year of build=20(02).

Trane: The first letter position represents the year of manufacture, the second and third digits are the week, and the fourth digit is the day, (if you want to be really precise). Look at this chart for the year designations from 1980 on….
O,A=1980, T=1981, U=1982, W=1983, X=1984, Y=1985, S=1986, B=1987,C=1988,
D=1989, E=1990, F=1991, G=1992, H=1993, J=1994, K=1995, L=1996, M=1997,
N=1998, P=1999, R=2000, Z=2001, after 2001, the code reverts to numeric
and 2=2002, 3=2003, 4=2004, and so on..
for an example: M124X04CF M= build year 1987, 12 = week of manufacture,
4= day of week (Wednesday) .

York ( Also known as Unitary Products) purchased Fraser Johnston, Luxaire in 1980. Year of manufacture is indicated by the 3RD letter in the serial number. I,O,Q, U,Z, are not used, the code is as follows:
A=1971, B=1972, C=1973, D=1974, E=1975, F=1976, G=1977, H=1978, J=1979.
K=1980, L=1981, M=1982, N-1983, P=1984, R=1985, S=1986, T=1987, V=1988,
W=1989, X=1990, Y=1991, A=1992, B=1993, C=1994, D=1995, E=1996, F=1997,
